It is not specifically geared toward high school students (like career cruising), so you may find that it offers you a more options and feedback. Go to: http://www.mynextmove.org/explore/ip and begin the interest profiler and answer the 60 "likes" and "dislikes" questions. When you are finished, take notes on your “Interest Profiler Score Report.” It will score you in 5 categories: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Use these notes as evidence when you write your MLA career paper. Hit next and continue with the survey. You will learn how much schooling and training is needed to various professions in the “Job Zone” information. It will ask you to choose the zone that works for you. Take notes on the “Interest Profiler Career List” results. These are the careers that fit your interest and your preparation level. You must cite this website and these results in your MLA research paper due Wednesday, September 26.
Once you have completed your research, begin writing your 1-2 page paper (plus a works cited page). The content of your paper will answer the following questions:
What career have I chosen and what does this person do at work?
Why did I choose this career and what skills do I possess that make this career a good fit for me?
What were my inventory results (career cruising and O*Net) and how do the compare with my chosen career?
This paper will be written in first person. Cite sources and include a works cited page - you will have a minimum of two sources.

Career Cruising - go to www.careercruising.com. Log in: user name is wmhs and password is warren. Click on the Assessments Tab and complete the "Career Matchmaker" 116 question assessment and the "My Skills" assessment. Save the results to your EDP (if you have one.....your login will be the first three letters of your first name, your full last name, your year of graduation. Your password is warren.) If you can't log into your EDP, simply copy and paste a printer friendly version of your results to a word document. Further, you must print your results and include them in your senior project binder for the Wednesday, September 26 binder check.
My Next Move - go to www.mynextmove.org. This website features O*Net, a program created by the US Department of Labor, designed to help match knowledge, skills, abilities, personality, technology, education, and job outlook.
